Bangkok, Thailand

Landed in Bangkok, 12/12/2022 or 2565 in Thai year count, which is a lunar version of the Buddhist calendar

Ate great food and fruit of the street stalls and small unwalled restaurants

Emerald buddha which is one of the most important and sacred of all them statues is actually quite tiny, but size doesn’t matter. It was wrapped in winter attire and we sat there a bit to see people pray and appreciate.

Reclined Buddha just south of it is much bigger but felt to me as just a place to take a photo and leave. We did however, get to see a monk renovating a wall painting and people putting some hundred coins in metal jars for some prayer.

Nightlife Chinatown too messy for me, wouldn’t recommend it. Also nighttime Khao San street was very lame.

Finally, before returning to the airport to rent a car, we took a local canal boat to lunch at a place that offers a stew with broth taken from a pot that hasn’t been cleaned or washed for the past 40 years, but rather water and juicy meats continue to be added to it and tasting as they go to get the flavors right.
